Troy Completes Fan Day, Second Football Scrimmage

TROY, Ala. – All of Troy's fall sports participated in Fan Day on Saturday afternoon in Trojan Arena. The event followed a rainy football scrimmage that was the second of the preseason for the Trojans.

Fan Day allowed Troy fans the opportunity to meet and greet the Troy football, cross country, soccer and volleyball teams as well as the Trojan cheerleaders. Many fans collected autographs and took pictures with their favorite coaches and players as the fall sports season rapidly approaches.

The Troy soccer team opens its season with an exhibition match at home on Sunday against the University of Mobile at 4 p.m. The Troy cross country team opens the 2013 campaign at home on Friday, August 30 for the Trojan Invitational.

The Troy volleyball team scrimmaged following the event, allowing fans a chance to see the Trojans in action before they open their season on the road at the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Friday, August 30.Â

The volleyball scrimmage was the second scrimmage seen on Saturday by Troy fans as the Trojan football team took to the turf at Veterans Memorial Stadium for nearly 90 minutes on Saturday morning.

The scrimmage capped a busy week for the Trojans who finished preseason camp on Tuesday and started classes on Wednesday. The Trojans will take a much-needed day off on Sunday before returning to the practice field on Monday evening.

Saturday marks two weeks until the Trojans open the 2013 season by hosting UAB at Veterans Memorial Stadium on August 31. Kickoff between the Trojans and Blazers is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
