No. 25 Troy Travels to Alabama for In-State Clash

TROY, Ala. – No. 25 Troy steps out of conference Wednesday night as the Trojans travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for an in-state battle with Alabama. First pitch from Sewell-Thomas Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
Troy (35-12) has won 11of its last 12 games and 22 of its last 27 games. The Trojans are coming off a three-game sweep of FIU to move within one game of South Alabama for first place in the Sun Belt standings.
The Trojans ascended into the national rankings for the first time this season as Collegiate Baseball tabbed Troy at the No. 25 team in the country; it is Troy's first national ranking since the 2011 season.
Josh McDorman has turned in a strong second half for the Trojans as the senior outfielder is batting .453 with four doubles, four home runs, nine stolen bases and 24 RBIs over the past 24 games. McDorman was 7-for-10 with six RBIs and six stolen bases in Troy's sweep of FIU.
Troy enters its series with Alabama (27-21) batting .382 as a team with runners in scoring position while holding its opponents to just a .246 average with runners in scoring position. The Trojans' starting lineup is batting .407 with runners in scoring position.
First baseman Trae Santos leads the Sun Belt and ranks fourth in the NCAA with 14 homers, while right fielder Danny Collins leads the Sun Belt and ranks fourth nationally with 22 doubles. Logan Pierce leads the conference batting at a .380 clip and shortstop Tyler Vaughn leads the NCAA with 61 runs scored.
The Crimson Tide comes into the mid-week contest after getting swept in a SEC series by Mississippi State last weekend. Alabama, who is batting .246 as a team, is led at the plate by Georgie Salem's .279 batting average.
Troy will send sophomore right-hander Jeremy McGowan (0-0, 3.60) to the mound for his first start of the season. Alabama will send sophomore left-hander Taylor Guilbeau (3-1, 2.97) to the mound to start the game.
