Results/Day Three Schedule
MIRAMAR, Fla. - Day two of competition at the Sun Belt Conference Championships is in the books, with several Trojans posting season-best times. Both teams sit in 10th with plenty of action remaining on Sunday.
Veronica Bryant finished third in the heptathlon with 4,805 points, while Adria Hill finished 11th at 4,079 points. Bryant set a season best in the long jump at 5.72 meters, finishing second. Hill set two season-bests on the day, with a leap of 4.86 meters in the long jump at a time of 2:50.46 in the 800-meter.
Samuel Johnson finished eighth in the decathlon with 6,378 points, followed closely by Douglas Dyer in ninth at 6,154 points, with both performing well in the second day of the event. Dyer set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.60 seconds, taking third, while Johnson's best finish was fourth in the javelin at 49.78 meters.
Brynn Forsythe placed ninth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 12.80 meters. Myles Charley also finished just outside of scoring, placing ninth in the long jump at 7.19 meters. Bryant followed up her impressive performance in the heptathlon by leaping 1.62 meters in the high jump and finishing ninth. Zach Douglas would also grab a ninth place finish, throwing for 15.33 meters in the shot put.
Several Trojans qualified for the finals on Sunday as well. Benjamin Martin had the fastest time in the 100-meter preliminaries, finishing in 10.46 seconds. Top-seeded Neko Freeman finished just outside the qualifying time at 10.67 seconds.
Ja-Courtney Alexander finished third in the preliminaries of the 400-meter run on Saturday, at 54.76 seconds. She would go on to take the third seed in the 400-meer hurdles at 1:00.65, her fastest time of the season. Jordan Landburg reached the finals in the men's event, finishing in 47.16 seconds, a season-best. Jasmine Patton enters the finals of the 100-meter hurdles seeded fourth after finishing the preliminaries in 13.55 seconds, a season best. Both Thaddeus Curtis and Jaron Davis will compete in the 110-meter hurdles finals on Sunday as well.
Kemper Morton will compete in the finals of the 800-meter run on Sunday after finishing in fifth in the preliminaries at 1:53.30, his fastest time of the season. Both Landburg and Martin advanced to the finals in the 200-meter dash, with both setting season-bests.
Action wraps up on Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m.
