AUBURN, Ala. – The Troy track and field team opened up competition at the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday with solid results, including personal bests and broken school and conference records.
“Nicolo broke old school record finishing third with a huge throw of 63.96 meters,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “The women produced in the javelin and Lizzie got a solid season open with a third place performance. Both triple jumps also made the finals.”
Nicolo Bolla finished third in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 63.96 meters, good enough to break the school record and Sun Belt Conference record; the 63.96 mark was two meters further than the previous mark of 61.41.
In the men's hammer throw open, Eddie Lynn finished second with a 53.48 meter throw to finish just four one-hundredths off his personal best.
Delonte Martistee picked up a sixth place finish in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.58 meters, while Myles Charley finished ninth with a 14.18 distance.
Mackensie Howell competed in the men's javelin throw, but did not place after fouling on his attempts.
On the women's side, Lizzie Clough recorded the day's best finish of the women with a throw of 43.53 meters, a personal best. Megan Schnuelle finished sixth in the same event with a 39.02 meter throw, also a personal best.
