Trojans Fall at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team dropped a road Sun Belt match on Friday, falling at South Alabama, 5-2.

Troy (8-14) took the doubles point thanks to close matches at first and second doubles, after South Alabama (10-11) took third doubles.

At second doubles, Troy's Anas Rouchdi and Patrick Eichler won, 8-6, followed by Sami Ghorbel and Mansingh Athare winning at first doubles, 9-7.

With Troy up 1-0 entering singles play, the Trojans were only able to manage one singles victory as Eichler won at sixth singles in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Alex Bernard clinched the match for South Alabama at first singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Rouchdi. Four of the Jaguars five wins came in straight sets, with Athare falling in three sets at second singles, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Complete results are below.

Troy returns to the court on Tuesday when the Trojans host Florida A&M at the Lunsford Tennis Complex at 2 p.m. The match is part of a doubleheader with the women's team and marks Senior Day for Rouchdi on the men's side.
