Georgia Spec Towns National Team Invitational Results
ATHENS, Ga. – The Trojans wrapped up competition at the Bulldog Heptathlon and the Georgia Spec Towns National Team Invitational on Saturday on the campus of the University of Georgia. Two athletes took home first place finishes, while several Trojans improved their season-bests.
“It's that time of year when the athletes start feeling confidence,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “Leading into the conference championships it's important for them to get solid marks and continue to improve.”
Veronica Bryant took home fourth in the heptathlon with 4,633 points. She placed fourth in all three competitions on Saturday, in the long jump (5.31 meters), the javelin (26.07 meters) and the 800-meter run (2:48.06).
In the field events, Mackenzie Howell had a breakout day, topping his season-best throw by almost seven and a half meters, finishing third at 61.73 meters. Larry Henry took fourth in the high jump, tying his season-best leap of 2.10 meters. Eddie Lynn grabbed a fifth place finish in the discus with a throw of 54.22 meters, breaking his own school record.
Nicole Studstill put out her top performance of the season in the discus, placing fifth with a throw of 42.46 meters. Zach Douglas placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 15.66 meters, while Christina Barrett took eighth in the javelin at 33.81 meters, a season-best.
On the track, Morgan Paulson took home the victory in the 5,000-meter run at 18:24.52, her best time this season. Kemper Morton was victorious in the 1,500-meter run, breaking his season-best time by more than 20 seconds, completing the race in 3:53.13.
The men's 4x100 team of Chaun Lynn, Jordan Landburg, Benjamin Martin and Phillip Pritchett placed fourth, completing the relay in 41.16 seconds. Landburg would go on to finish fourth in the 400-meter dash as well, with a season-best time of 47.53 seconds, while Martin would take eighth in the 100-meter dash at 10.53 seconds.
Jasmine Patton finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.15 seconds. Lacey Marcus and Adria Hill took seventh and eighth at 14.67 and 14.96 seconds respectively.
Jaron Davis took sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.00 seconds. Bree Handy's time of 1:06.30 earned her seventh place in the 400-meter hurdles, while Enock Kirui improved his season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 9:50.32. Julia Ostendorf placed ninth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:55.41.
The Trojans next head to Auburn for the War Eagle Invitational on April 19 and 20.
