Track and Field to Compete at Jaguar Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. – The Troy University track and field team will travel to Mobile, Ala., to take part in the Jaguar Invitational hosted by South Alabama on Saturday. It will be the second time that the Trojans will compete at South Alabama this season.

“We're really looking forward to the weekend,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “It will be the first meet where weather won't affect the performances.”

Seven teams will be at the meet, including three Sun Belt schools. Southern Mississippi and Southeastern Louisiana will also be competing.

“We're facing two conference schools, so we're excited about that,” Lancaster said. “There are some statements to be made in front of these other schools.”

Thaddeus Curtis will be competing in four events on the day, including the 110-meter hurdles. Last weekend at the Alabama Relays, Curtis set a season-best in the event at 14.43 seconds, the fastest time in the conference this season, earning Sun Belt track athlete of the week. He will also be competing in the 100- and 200-meter dash, as well as the 4x400-meter relay.

Eddie Lynn also earned conference accolades last week, following a tremendous performance at the Alabama Relays. Lynn set a new school record in the discus with a toss of 175' 9”, placing fourth. Lynn will also compete in the hammer throw this weekend.

Jasmine Patton will be competing in four events at the Jaguar Invitational. Her only field event of the day will be the long jump, an event she hasn't competed in during this outdoor season. She will also be running in the 100- and 200-meter dashes as well as the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 14.11 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at the Alabama Relays was the fastest by a Trojan this season.

“We've seen a better quality of preparation this week,” said Lancaster. “We're ready.”
