Trojans Begin Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Trojans opened up the Alabama Relays on Friday night, with one winner and several quality performances. Competition will continue tomorrow on the campus of the University of Alabama.
“The first day of the Alabama Relays was cold and wet, but did not hinder our efforts,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “I was proud of the way we competed again. We were able to pull some competitive performances again.”
Benjamin Martin won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.88 seconds, while teammate Phillip Pritchett took second just 1/100th of a second behind.
Nicolo Bolla placed fourth in the hammer throw at 58.54 meters, while Alexus Cobbs grabbed fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.50 meters, the best jump of the season for the Trojans.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Neko Freeman, Martin, Pritchett and Jordan Landburg placed third with a time of 1:25.74, while the women's team of Ashley Hall, Ja-Courtney Alexander, Adria Hill and Veronica Bryant took fifth in 1:41.42.
Alexander and Hall finished in fifth and sixth in the 100-meter dash, with Alexander leading by 3/1,000ths of a second, finishing at 12.678 seconds.
Thaddeus Curtis went sixth in the 400 meter hurdles at 54.41 seconds, the fastest time of the season for the Trojans. Myles Charley's leap of 14.28 meters took seventh in the triple jump.
