TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Troy track and field team travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Alabama Relays on Friday, March22, and Saturday, March 23. 20 men and 17 women will participate for the Trojans.
“We look forward to the Alabama Relays every season,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “We will see our best competition of the season. There are a few invitational events that we made the cut for and we expect to see quality results.”
The meet gets underway on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., starting with the men's discus throw. Running events begin at 5 p.m., with the 4x200 meter relay starting things off.
Senior Neko Freeman will be looking to improve his national standing in the 100-meter dash, after posting the eighth best time in the region this season last week at 10.42 seconds. Freeman will also be part of the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays teams.
Ja-Courtney Alexander put up solid performances at the Shamrock Invitational last weekend and will look to improve her current season best in the 100-meter dash, while also competing in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays, as well as the 400-meter. Brynn Forsythe will be competing in both the shot put and the hammer throw.
“We felt like we made great strides last week at the Shamrock Invitational,” Lancaster said. “We'll see numerous in-state schools, which will heighten the competition and help prepare us for Sun Belt foes.”
