Pair of Trojans Earn Preseason Honor

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Two members of the Troy University track and field team have been named to the Preseason Division I Outdoor Favorites list, as chosen by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Nicolo Bolla ranks 15th in the hammer throw, while Elizabeth Clough ranks 31st in the javelin.
“It is awesome to have two athletes recognized early on in the season,” said track coach Shawn Williams. “They both had outstanding seasons a year ago so it's great for them to get more recognition. With Nicolo being a pre-season pick as second team All-American, it is nice to see his dedications and work that he put in this fall and winter be recognized."
Bolla finished last season in 19th at the NCAA Regionals with a toss of 60.72 meters. His best throw of the season came at the Coach O Invitational at Troy, where he threw 63.85 meters to win the event. In his one meet this season, Bolla threw 61.41 meters, finishing second at the Shamrock Invitational.
Clough is ranked 31st in the preseason rankings, after throwing a career-best 46.87 meters at the Louisiana Classics a season ago. She has yet to compete this season.
The Trojans next travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday to compete in the Alabama Relays.
