Troy Wraps Up Seminole Intercollegiate Second Round

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Jake Tucker used a three-stroke improvement from the Seminole Intercollegiate first round, to shoot a three-under par, 69, to lead the Troy men's golf team to a tie for eighth place standing on Saturday at the Southwood Golf Club.
After shooting a 290 in Friday's opening 18 holes, the Trojans matched that on Saturday with the second-straight 290 to tie East Carolina for eighth out of 11 teams at the 54-hole event.
Jake Tucker turned in a one-under par, 71, to open the tournament on Friday, but improved by two strokes Saturday to shoot a three-under par, 69, to jump to the top-10 in the individual standings.
Phillip Brennan dropped to a tie for 19th after carding a one-over par, 73. The sophomore made the turn at even-par after shooting two bogeys and two birdies on the front nine, before dropping a bogey on the ninth hole to finish the round at one-over, and enter Sunday's final round at one-under, 143 overall.
Tolver Dozier jumped into the top-25 after improving by two strokes to a one-under par, 71. The sophomore opened play with a birdie on the 10th, but dropped two bogeys on the 12th and 13th to drop to one-over. Two birdies on the final nine holes sent Dozier to one-under, tied for 25th, at 144 overall.
Wil Clowdus maintained his position over Saturday's 18 holes after firing a five-over par, 77, to enter Sunday's play tied for 52nd. Kyle Thommesen improved from his first round score by five strokes, and enters the final 18 holes in 63rd.
Florida State's Daniel Berger and Coastal Carolina's Sebastian Soderberg enter the final round locked at eight-under, 136, while the Seminoles take a one-stroke team lead into Sunday's action over Mississippi State.
The final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate is slated for a start of 8:15 a.m. Sunday morning. Live stats will be available through www.GolfStat.com.
