MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Troy University track and field team wrapped up competition at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Saturday, with several Trojans putting out quality performances.
“We feel this meet and prior meets have been great workload competitions,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “It was a quality meet with just as much talent and smaller fields conducive to focusing on performance. We will use these past two meets as preparation for Alabama Relays.”
Neko Freeman was Troy's top competitor on Saturday, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.42 seconds, the eighth fastest 100-meter time in the region this season. Benjamin Martin also placed in the event, taking ninth at 10.79 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay squad of Paige McMillan, Ja-Courtney Alexander, Jasmine Patton and Ashley Hall took fourth with a time of 46.75 seconds. Alexander would go on to take ninth in the 200-meter dash in 24.75 seconds.
The men's 4x400 team of Chaun Lynn, Jordan Landburg, Thaddeus Curtis and Zachary Calhoun placed fifth at 3:17.92. Phillip Pritchett took 10th in the 200-meter with a time of 21.72 seconds.
Delonte Martistee and Charley Myles took sixth and seventh in the triple jump, with Martistee going 14.81 meters and Myles leaping 14.47 meters. Larry Henry took ninth in the high jump competition at 2.00 meters.
Eddie Lynn picked up a third place finish in the discus at 49.50 meters, while Zach Douglas's toss of 15.20 meters in the shot put was good enough for 11th.
The Trojans next compete at the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23.
