BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Troy women's indoor track and field team competed at the Samford Multi and Invitational meet on Friday and Saturday moving several Trojans up in the all-time ranking list as well as new Trojans making the list.
“We've had several Trojans break through this weekend,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “Many other Trojans have yet to break through, but are on the edge. We are excited to see improvement in all of our athletes and can't wait to get back to training and preparing for the conference championship.”
Three Trojans, senior Jasmine Patton, junior Luv Dean and freshman Carly Wright competed in the pentathlon on Friday night.
“We had three Trojans step out of their comfort zone tonight to compete in the pentathlon,” said Lancaster. “The effort was there from all three ladies and it was a great learning environment for all of those involved."
Patton bounced back this week after not competing last weekend. In her second pentathlon she moves to eighth all-time with an eighth place finish and a score of 3038. Freshman Carly Wright finished the pentathlon with a score of 2775 and hurdle specialist Luv Dean scored 2656 on the day.
The Trojans saw many breakthroughs in personal records and the all-time ranking list on day two of action at Samford.
