Trojans Travel To MTSU Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –The Troy University indoor track and field team heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Saturday to take place in the MTSU Invitational.

“We are excited to build off the improvements we saw at Arkansas State,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “The meet will definitely be more conducive to better marks.”

Morgan Paulson will look to improve on her 3000-meter time, after moving up to sixth all-time at 10:42.27, just one week ago. Alexus Cobbs moved into seventh all-time in the triple jump last week at 11.46 meters.

“It is a smaller meet and we will see three of our conference opponents there,” Lancaster said. “We should get a good taste of where we are at and what we need to do in the next few weeks.”

Several other Trojans will be competing at this meet, including Ja-Courtney Alexander, who placed ninth in the 55-meter dash last weekend in 7.29 seconds.

“We had another good week of practice,” said Lancaster. “The team seems to be embracing the training with an understanding of where we want to be at the Sun Belt Championships. Several are doing events that are meant to prepare them but not necessarily their dominant events on the track. Once again we expect the team to take the challenges provided this weekend and move forward.”
