TROY, Ala. – Freshman midfielder Necee Jennings has been acknowledged by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for her success on the field this season, earning NSCAA All-South Region third team honors.
"Necee was a fantastic addition to this team this year," said head coach Chris Bentley. "She works incredibly hard on and off the field daily and is an amazing teammate. We are very proud of her.
"She would be the first to credit her team for this award."
Jennings led the Trojans in scoring with 14 points. Her seven goals and four game-winning goals were also tops on the team. Jennings was also honored by the Sun Belt Conference, earning first team All-SBC honors, the first Trojan to do so in program history.
The Trojans finished the season 8-10-1, including 4-3-1 in conference play. Troy finished in a tie for fourth in the league with Texas State. The Trojans battled hard in the SBC Championships but fell to the Bobcats, 2-1, in overtime.
Jennings becomes the first Trojan to earn NSCAA All-Region honors since Jill Pinder and Ruth Sutcliffe following the 2010 season.
