TROY, Ala. – Despite winning the first set, the Troy volleyball team fell in four sets on Wednesday against South Alabama, 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 27-25), at Trojan Arena.

Blair Winston led Troy (9-19, 4-10) with 19 kills while Kiah Cheatham posted a team-high .304 attack percentage with 12 kills and five attack errors on 23 attempts. Marija Zelenovic was also in double-figures with 14 kills for Troy.

Alexandra Alexander recorded a double-double with 51 assists and a match-high 16 digs. Kelley Curran (13) and Courtney Cohen (12) also posted double-figure digs.

Troy posted a .221 attack percentage as South Alabama recorded 14.0 total team blocks. Amber Wyatt led the Jaguars with 10 blocks while Mallory Moore had nine.

South Alabama (11-13, 6-8) hit .290 as a team, led by Mechell Daniel's 28 kills and .400 attack percentage.

The Trojans hit .349 in the opening set and won by a close 26-24 score. Troy hit .026 in the second frame as South Alabama led throughout and used a 25-21 win to even the match.

The third set was close throughout, but the Jaguars hit .483 with 16 kills and two errors on their way to a 25-23 win.

In the fourth set, Troy led 20-17 before South Alabama scored three straight to tied the set at 20-20. The Trojans served for the set at 25-24, but USA scored three straight to take the final set, 27-25.

The Trojans return to the court on Friday when they host Arkansas State at 7 p.m. Troy will host UT Arlington on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the final regular season home match of the year.
