Trojans Host Rival South Alabama on Wednesday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy volleyball team returns home to host South Alabama on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Trojan Arena. The match is the first of three at home this week for the Trojans, who have played five of the last six on the road.

Troy (9-18, 4-9) enters the match in a tie with Georgia State for eighth place in the Sun Belt standings with five regular season matches remaining. The Trojans are just a game back of South Alabama (10-13, 5-8) in the standings.
Troy and South Alabama met in early October in Mobile, Ala., with Troy coming away with a sweep of its longtime rival. Troy and South Alabama have played at least once in every season since Troy moved to Division I in 1993. The Trojans hold a 21-17 advantage in the series, including a 10-6 mark at home.
Blair Winston and Marija Zelenovic have led the Troy offense in Sun Belt play, averaging 3.66 and 3.38 kills/set, respectively.
Senior setter Alexandra Alexander, playing her final regular season home matches this week, is averaging 10.43 assists/set in league play, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt.
Defensively, Courtney Cohen, also a senior, leads the Trojans with a 3.72 digs/set average in Sun Belt play. She is 69 digs away from becoming just the sixth player in Sun Belt history with 2,000 career digs.
South Alabama has won three of its last four matches after starting Sun Belt play 2-7. The Jaguars lost their most recent match at UALR, but won three straight prior to that against Texas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State, all at home.
Following Wednesday's match, the Trojans will host Arkansas State on Friday and UT Arlington on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. with Saturday's match being preceded by a Senior Night ceremony.
