Troy Men’s Golf in Striking Distance Following Day One of Eagle/Osprey Intercollegaite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Battling tough course conditions, the Troy men's golf team is in seventh place following the opening two rounds of the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate at the Deerwood Country Club on Monday.
No. 25 Vanderbilt leads the field that also includes No. 30 Mercer and No. 48 Southeastern Louisiana; the Commodores are seven shots up on SE Louisiana and nine up on Mercer.
The Trojans, who were in third place following the opening round, are still in the hunt for a solid finish as they will enter Tuesday's final round just eight strokes out of second place.
Phillip Brennan is the clubhouse leader for the Trojans after shooting a 4-over 148 in the first two rounds; he is tied for 10th place. Jake Tucker, who carded the fourth most pars in the field, is tied for 16th place after firing a 5-over 149.
Tolver Dozier is tied for 27th place after shooting a 75 in both rounds. Jared Bettcher shot the best round of the day for the Trojans with an even-par 72 in the first round and sits in a tie for 32nd after shooting a 79 in the second round. Competing as an individual, Will Garner is tied for 51st and Clayton Vannoy is tied for 75th.
Troy will tee off on the front nine in the first group out Tuesday; the Trojans will hit the course at 6:30 a.m. (CST) for the final 18 holes.
