TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team opens a four-game homestand on Tuesday when Alabama-Huntsville visits Trojan Arena. Tipoff between the Trojans and Lady Chargers is set for 7 p.m.
Live stats, live video and a free audio broadcast will be available through TroyTrojans.com. Fans can also find live, in-game updates on Twitter at @TroyWomensBBall.
Troy (2-2) last played seven days ago in an 86-81 loss at Mercer. The Trojans started that game slow and were down by 12 just six minutes into the game. Troy cut the lead to three on a couple of occasions, including late in both halves, but could never get any closer.
The Trojans lead the Sun Belt in scoring at 82.2 points per game, led by Joanna Harden's 20.5 points per game. Harden ranks second in the Sun Belt in scoring, second in steals (2.5 spg), sixth in assists (3.8 apg) and first in free throw percentage (92.0 percent).
The Trojans high scoring numbers are due in part to their pressure defense. The Trojans force 28.0 opponent turnovers per game, also tops in the Sun Belt. Troy averages 27.0 points per game off of turnovers. Troy's opponents, in contrast, average 12.8 per game off of turnovers.
UAH (4-0) plays a very similar style to Troy and enters Tuesday's game averaging 110.8 points per game, the best mark among all Division II schools in the nation. The Lady Chargers also lead Division II with a +19.0 turnover margin thanks to 34.2 opponent turnovers per game.
The Lady Chargers have won all four of their games by at least 30 points, including a 90-point win (134-44) in their season opener. UAH is led in scoring by Jordan Smith (22.8 ppg) and Jasmine Hammon (22.3 ppg) who each rank among Division II's top 20 scorers this season.
Troy is 13-4 all-time against UAH, but the two sides haven't played since 1992-93, Troy's final season as an NCAA Divison II member. Troy played another Gulf Coast Conference member in its exhibition game this season, defeating West Florida 110-79.
Tuesday's game is the first of a four-game homestand that includes visits from Jacksonville, Florida and Evansville.
