MONROE, La. – The Troy volleyball team won the first two sets, but missed chances with two match points in the fourth set and fell at ULM in five sets on Saturday, 3-2 (22-25, 25-27, 25-23, 28-26, 15-11).

Troy (9-18, 4-9) held ULM under a .200 attack percentage in each of the first two sets, and seemed poised to snap a five-match losing streak. However, in a third set that was tied 10 times, including as late as 23-23, the Trojans hit a match-low .167 and gave ULM its first set.

The Trojans still had chances to close out ULM (6-23, 2-11) in the fourth set, including with match points at 24-23 and 25-24, but the Warhawks scored four of five to even the match at two sets apiece.

The Warhawks posted a match-high .320 attack percentage in the fifth set with nine kills and just one attack error to take the deciding set, 15-11.

Marija Zelenovic and Blair Winston each posted 22 kills to lead the Trojans.

Symone Shaw had the best match of her young career, posting nine total blocks, the most by a Troy freshman in the Trojans' Division I history (1993-present). The Homewood, Ala., native also recorded nine kills and just one attack error for a team-high .438 attack percentage.

Courtney Cohen broke her own school record with 39 digs. She set the record in Troy's first match of this season when she posted 37 digs against Stephen F. Austin.

Cohen was one of four with double-figure digs as Kelley Curran posted a career-high 20 digs while Alexandra Alexander (19) and Zelenovic (11) each posted a double-double. Alexander had 61 assists as a part of her 18th double-double of the season.

ULM was led by Hadley Swartz, who recorded 29 kills, and Hope Pawlik, who posted 22. Marcela Araya posted 46 digs, setting a Sun Belt single-game, rally-scoring era record.

The loss is the sixth straight for Troy, with five of the six coming on the road. The Trojans now return home for three straight as just five matches remain in the regular season.

Troy will host South Alabama on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Trojan Arena before hosting Arkansas State and UT Arlington on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
