Troy Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth at Pinetree Intercollegiate

KENNESAW, Ga. – Led by Tolver Dozier's tie for sixth place, the Troy men's golf team maintained its spot on the leaderboard and finished in sixth place at the Pinetree Intercollegiate at the Pinetree Country Club on Tuesday.

The Trojans shot the third-best round of the day on Tuesday after carding a 298 – Troy finished just four shots behind Indiana for fifth place and was just nine strokes out of a second-place finish. Host Kennesaw State won the team title by eight shots.

Dozier fired a 2-over in the final round after carding a birdie and three bogeys. His finish was the best by a Trojan golfer this year and his three-round total of 1-over-par 217 was the second best of the year for Troy.

Freshman Clayton Vannoy rebounded from a tough Monday to shoot a team-best 1-over in the final round; Vannoy sank birdie putts on No. 3 and No. 18. Phillip Brennan (224) matched Dozier's 74 on Tuesday and finished tied for 20^th overall, while Jake Tucker (226) finished in 34^th place, Jared Bettcher (227) tied for 35^th and Vannoy tied for 37^th. Competing as an individual, Luke Moser finished in a tie for 44th place after shooting a 231 in his collegiate debut.

Bettcher and Brennan both sank four birdies during their final round on the course, but Bettcher was haunted by a pair of double bogeys and one triple bogey.

Winthrop's Taylor Dickson won the individual title by two shots over a pair of other golfers.

The Trojans return to the links on Nov. 4-5 for the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
