Final Results
ATLANTA – Freshman Clayton Vannoy led the Troy men's golf team in his first collegiate tournament as the Trojans wrapped up play at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in 11th place.
Vannoy, who sank a hole-in-one on Monday, shot a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday at the Berkley Hills Country Club to finish even par for the tournament. He carded four birdies on the day and finished tied for 21st place, one stroke ahead of teammate Phillip Brennan, who carded a 76 on Tuesday and finished tied for 25th.
Host Georgia State jumped both South Florida and South Alabama to win the team title, while South Florida's Chase Koepka won the individual title with a 10-under-par 206. The field included three top 50 squads in the latest Golfweek rankings, along with 11 teams ranked in the top 100.
Tolver Doizer turned in Troy's best round of the day as he shot a 2-under-par 70 thanks to seven birdies in his round. Dozier, who tied for 36th, led all players in the field averaging 2.75 strokes on the par 3 holes during the tournament, while Vannoy was tied for second with a 2.83 average on the par 3 holes. Dozier finished the tournament with 14 birdies, good for the third most in the field.
Jake Tucker shot a 77 in Tuesday's final round and tied for 63rd overall and Wil Clowdus rounded out the field for the Trojans in 72nd place after shooting a 74.
