Trojans Advance in All-Time Rankings

JONESBORO, Ark.- The Troy women's indoor track and field team continued their season on Friday when they competed in the Arkansas Invitational. Several Trojans moved up in the all-time ranking list in the meet.
“Some great strides were made today toward meeting our goals,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “Leaders continued to impress in their categories. Our team made large strides towards our goals for the end of the year. The team must continue to grow and improve though. I am excited to see what we do in Middle Tennessee next week.”
For Troy in the 3000-meter race, leaders moved up the ranking lists. Freshman Julia Ostendorf moved to third all-time scoring sixth with a time of 10:32.32. Senior Morgan Paulson scored eighth with a time of 10:42.27 moving to sixth in the all-time ranking list.
Senior Jasmine Patton scored fourth in the 55-meter hurdle preliminaries with a score of 8.07 finishing the finals with a time of 8.18 scoring seventh. Senior Ja-Courtney Alexander scored fourth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.27, finishing ninth in the finals with a time of 7.29. Alexander also competed in the 400-meter dash scoring second with a time of 58.35.
Sophomore Alexus Cobb had a breakthrough day for the Trojans moving to seventh all-time for the Trojans in the triple jump with a distance of 11.46 meters. Cobb also scored the second fastest time for the Trojans in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.36. Cobb followed junior Adria Hill who finished 18th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.35.
The Trojans had two teams competing in the 4x400-meter relay race. The relay team comprised of seniors Ja-Courtney Alexander and Candice Vaughn and freshman Aleeza Kempton and Paige McMillan scored third with a time 4:00.11. The second team finished 12th with a time of 4:26.36 and was comprised of freshman Bree Handy, sophomores Alexus Cobb and Amiracle Watson, and junior Luv Dean.
The Trojans will compete again next weekend when they head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to compete in the MTSU Invitational.
