MONROE, La. – After a thrilling overtime win over Arkansas State, the Troy men's basketball team (8-12, 3-6) now travels to Monroe, La., to face ULM (3-12, 2-7) on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Troy already defeated ULM once this season, knocking off the Warhawks at home, 64-55, just two weeks ago.
The Trojans took down Arkansas State in thrilling fashion on Thursday night, with Emil Jones providing the late-game heroics. Trailing by three points with under 10 seconds to play, Jones corralled the inbounds pass and fired up a highly contested 3-pointer that found the bottom of the net, forcing the extra period. In overtime, Troy took over, outscoring the Red Wolves 13-6 and not allowing a field goal.
Jones has surged of late, scoring in double-figures in five consecutive games. He now averages 11.2 points per game, to go along with 5.8 rebounds. Hunter Williams and Antoine Myers are each averaging 9.0 points per game while also serving as the facilitators for the squad.
ULM is currently riding a four-game skid that started at the hands of Troy two weeks ago. The Warhawks are led by Amos Olatayo's 13.4 points per game. Jayon James is second on the team at 10.0 points and leads the unit with 6.7 boards per contest.
Troy is 7-2 all-time against ULM, including winning the last seven. Earlier this season, the Trojans defeated the Warhawks at Trojan Arena, 64-55. Jones had 17 points, while Josh Warren grabbed nine boards.
