TROY, Ala.- The Troy women's track and field team travels to Birmingham, Ala., Wednesday to compete in a multi-event meet being sponsored by Samford University.
“We are delighted to have our multi-event athletes invited to a special pentathlon meet,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “We are ready to compete and have our athletes continue to improve on the season.”
Seniors Veronica Bryant and Christina Barrett will lead the way for the Trojans this meet. Barrett is ranked third on Troy's All-Time Ranking list for the pentathlon and has shown to be a successful athlete for the Trojans in the past.
Bryant is ranked fourth on Troy's All-Time List for the pentathlon. Bryant placed 39th and set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing the event in 9.42 seconds at the UAB Invitational last weekend. Bryant also competed in the high jump, placing 12th with a jump of 1.55 meters.
“Veronica Bryant and Christina Barrett have been two of the top multi event athletes in recent years are excited for the opportunity,” Lancaster said. “It is early in our indoor season, but we believe they will be able to capitalize on some event improvements already. The complex is a great a facility and the environment is right for a great competition.”
