Trojans Open Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – The Troy women's tennis team continued its season at the Georgia Invitational on Friday. Although the tournament doesn't feature duel matches, the Trojans matched up with No. 58 Memphis on Friday.
The Trojans and Tigers played seven singles matches and three doubles matches. Troy's Candela Munoz Giron took the lone win of the day for the Trojans, winning her singles match of Memphis' Kelly Gray in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles action, the Trojans faced a stiff test as Memphis sent out two pairings ranked in the ITA's top 35 national rankings.
Gray and her partner Courtney Collin, the 18th ranked pair in the nation, defeated Munoz Giron and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega, 8-2. Troy's top team, Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva, fell to No.35 Caroline Wegner and Stefanie Mikesz, 8-2.
The remainder of Troy's results from day one at the Georgia Invitational are listed below.
On Saturday, the Trojans will play doubles against No.6 Georgia and No.67 Kansas State. They will also play singles against Kansas State. Troy will close the tournament with singles play against Georgia on Sunday.
