COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Troy women's basketball signee Revonnia Howard was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Howard, a sophomore center at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill., has the Golden Eagles in contention for a second straight national title at 15-2 thus far this season.
Last week, Howard led RVC to a win over Malcolm X College with 18 points and nine rebounds, then posted 20 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Kankakee Community College.
On the season, the Chicago native is averaging 10.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game while being one of two Golden Eagles to start every game.
Last season, Howard led Rock Valley to the first National Championship in school history and was named NJCAA Tournament MVP. In a first round win over Montgomery College-Rockville, Howard tied a 33-year-old, single-game record with 28 rebounds.
Howard was also named the Region IV Tournament MVP and was a first team all-conference selection last season.
The 6-foot-2 forward will join the Trojans for the 2013-14 season.
The current edition of the Troy women's basketball team returns to the floor on Wednesday when the Trojans travel to take on Sun Belt leader Florida Atlantic.
