Troy, Ala.- The Troy men's and women's cross country teams continued to improve on the season as they ran in the Auburn Invitational Friday night. The men finished in fifth, while the women finished in ninth.

“I'm happy with how we ran today,” says assistant coach Jeff Jenkins. “We are starting to see progression from training show in races.”

The Troy women's team was led in the 4K race by Freshman Julia Ostendorf, who finished 23rd with a time of 15:37.28. Morgan Paulson rounded out the top 30 for the Trojans finishing with a time of 15:48.44 in 27th place.

Senior Haley Davies finished 70th with a time of 17:36.37, while sophomore Kendall Harris finished with a time of 17:50.20 at 77th. Robin Blackman, Anna Claire Scarlett and Jackie Smith finished in 79th, 80th and 81st.

Troy's men's team was led in the 6K race by sophomore Kemper Morton who recorded a personal best of 20:04.10 and finished in 13th. Freshman Cameron Sanchez finished 33rd with a time of 21:50.42.

“We had every guy set a personal best,” says Jenkins. “I'm very happy with the way that Kemper and Cameron raced. They ran with pronounced purpose. Kemper beat last week's Trojan Invitational champion by four places in a race over a mile shorter.”

Sam Ammons, Phillips Jones, and Garric Hawkins finished 35th, 39th, and 45th respectively to round out the top 50 for the Trojans.

“We are moving along well,” Jenkins said. “Only eight weeks to go until Bowling Green!”

Troy's next meet, the Azalea City Classic, will take place in Mobile on Saturday, September 15th.
