Trojans Host Auburn Tuesday, Cohen Wins SBC Weekly Honor

TROY, Ala. – After capturing a tournament title thanks to an undefeated weekend, the Troy volleyball team takes to the floor for its home opener on Tuesday as Auburn visits Sartain Hall at 7 p.m.

The Trojans (3-3) posted a 3-0 record at the First State Skyhawk Invitational last weekend as they defeated host UT Martin, DePaul and Wright State.

On the weekend, junior libero Courtney Cohen massed 79 digs in 14 sets for a 5.64 digs/set average. The Woodstock, Ga., native was most impressive in Troy's win over DePaul of the Big East as she posted 28 digs in the four-set match.

For her efforts, Cohen was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week. The honor is third of Cohen's career as she was named Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2011 on her way to postseason All-Sun Belt honors.

True freshman Blair Winston was also impressive for the Trojans over the weekend as she earned tournament MVP honors after posting 47 kills in 14 sets for an average of 3.36 kills/set while hitting .282. The Marietta, Ga., native recorded 21 kills in the tournament-clinching win over Wright State with just three errors for a .486 attack percentage.

Auburn (6-0) comes into Tuesday's match after posting a perfect 3-0 record in their own War Eagle Invitational with wins over High Point, Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State.
