Troy Women's Tennis Opens Season in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Troy women's tennis team gets its 2012-13 season underway this weekend at the UNO Big Easy Tennis Classic on the campus of the University of New Orleans. The event runs from Friday through Sunday.
Seven Trojans will make the trip to New Orleans, La., including All-Sun Belt doubles partners Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva, who find themselves as the No.1 seed in the only women's doubles draw of the tournament.
Grymel, who was also an All-Sun Belt selection as a singles player last season, finds herself as the second seed in the first women's singles draw. Grymel receives a bye into the quarterfinals of that draw and will begin her season on Friday at 3 p.m.
Two Trojans, Candela Munoz Giron and Olivia Durden, have been placed in the second women's singles draw with Munoz Giron seeded second.
Rosaura Ramirez-Vega, Samya El Hsissen and Anja Cosovic are all in the third women's singles draw for Troy, with Ramirez-Vega and El Hsissen receiving byes thanks to being seeded fourth and second, respectively.
In addition to Dorofeeva and Grymel, Troy will have two other doubles teams in the competition as Ramirez-Vega teams with Munoz Giron and Cosovic teams with Durden.
Complete draws can be viewed on TroyTrojans.com. All first round losers in the three main draws will move to three separate consolation draws.
Not only will individual draw champions be crowned, but a team champion will be awarded. Teams will be awarded two points for a win in the main draw and one point for a win in consolation draws. Also, byes in the main draw will be worth one point.
