Men’s Basketball Releases 2012-13 Schedule

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball program and head coach Don Maestri have released the 2012-13 schedule. Troy will play 15 games in the brand new Trojan Arena, the most home contests for the Trojans since 2007-08.
“It's a unique schedule for us. We play, for the first time, everyone in our league twice, home and away,” said Maestri. “It's a highly competitive out of conference home schedule this year, with the SEC, Conference USA, SWAC, Colonial and Big West all coming to Troy.”
Troy will play 13 games against teams that finished last season at .500 or better, including six opponents that advanced to post-season play. The Trojans will also play 20 Sun Belt Conference games this season, facing each opponent at home and on the road.
The Trojans will play a tough non-conference schedule, facing nine different opponents from eight different conferences.
The season begins with a home contest on Friday, November 9, against SEC foe Mississippi State at 7 p.m. The game will be the first at Trojan Arena and will also be the first time that Troy has ever faced a SEC opponent at home.
Troy then travels to College Station, Texas on Monday, November 14, to take on Texas A&M, kicking off the 2012 CBE Hall of Fame Classic. The Trojans will also face Louisiana Tech, Southeast Missouri State and Chattanooga in Chattanooga, Tenn. the following week as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
The Trojans return after Thanksgiving with a pair of non-conference games at home, against in-state rivals Alabama State and UAB on Sunday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 27.
The Sun Belt Conference season begins on November 29, as Troy heads to Little Rock, Ark. to take on UALR. The Trojans' first home Sun Belt game of the season comes just two days later, when they host the reigning Sun Belt Tournament champions WKU in a doubleheader with the women's basketball team on Saturday, December 1. Troy defeated WKU in both meetings last season.
The Trojans host Utah Valley on Saturday, December 8, before traveling to Alabama State on December 13. A visit from Georgia State, who will be a full-time member of the Sun Belt in the 2013-14 season, on Saturday, December 15, and a trip to Orem, Utah to face Utah Valley on December 19, close out the non-conference schedule.
The calendar year ends with a home contest against Sun Belt foe Florida Atlantic on Thursday, December 27. The Trojans then play the remainder of the season against Sun Belt opponents.
