Thorngren Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following an incredible weekend, Cecilia Thorngren of the Troy soccer team was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week.
Thorngren was a key member in the Trojans' come-from-behind win over Alabama State to kick off the season on Friday. She scored the eventual game-winner and had two assists, as the Trojans defeated the Hornets 5-3.
Thorngren's follow-up performance was just as impressive, as she played a role in four of the Trojans' five goals at Alcorn State. She got the scoring started in the 22nd minute and added a second in the 24th minute. Thorngren then had an assist on a Chelsey Williams goal to end the first half, before recording another assist on Jane Latif's first collegiate goal early in the second half.
The Trojans host Ole Miss in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Troy Soccer Complex before traveling to Wofford and Furman for the weekend.
