Troy's Tolver Dozier Set to Begin Play at U.S. Amateur Championship

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. – Rising Troy sophomore Tolver Dozier, who earned a coveted spot in the 112th United States Amateur Championship, begins play at 2:15 on Monday at the Cherry Hills Country Club.
Dozier, a native of Dothan, Ala., had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Trojans as he finished second on the team with a 73.41 stroke average. He turned in his best finish of the season for Troy at the Sun Belt Conference Championship where he placed sixth overall.
An American Junior Golf Association Scholastic All-American at Dothan High School, Dozier finished second in the qualifying event to earn his spot in the Championship, which will extend through Aug. 19. The winner of the U.S. Amateur receives an invitation to play in all of the majors with the exception of the PGA Championship, while the runner-up receives an invitation to play in the Masters and U.S. Open.
The event will feature two rounds of stroke play and then the field will be cut to 64 for match play. Fans wishing to follow the event live can click on the link above.
