Trojans Close NCAA East Preliminary Action
5/26/2012 9:10:00 PM | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Larry Henry took to the field at Hodges Stadium on Saturday, competing in the high jump, on the final day of action at the NCAA East Preliminary on the campus of North Florida.
Henry, who entered the 48-man event ranked 31st, improved on his seeding with a mark of 2.07 meters. Unfortunately, Henry fell outside of the top 12 finishers, who advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as he placed 25th.
Henry opened at the highest bar of his career before ultimately posting the 2.07 meter mark.
Henry was one of seven Trojans that competed at the NCAA East Preliminaries, joining Nicolo Bolla (hammer), Thaddeus Curtis (110m hurdles), Neko Freeman (100m), Mackenzie Howell (javelin), Eddie Lynn (discus) and Martins Pildavs (javelin).
Pildavs, the only senior in the group, is also the only Trojan advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa as he finished seventh in the javelin throw on Thursday.
“This crew was an important part of our good Sun Belt performance,” said Troy head coach Jill Lancaster. “This team will feel this loss, but they are motivated to return to this level again next year and to be prepared for the national championships.
“They are already thinking about 365 days from now.”
The NCAA Outdoor Championships run from June 6 to June 9 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Be sure to check back with TroyTrojans.com in the coming days for a complete schedule as Martins Pildavs searches for a National Championship.
