Trojans Finish the Sun Belt Championships With Many Medals

FULL RESULTS
LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy track & field team finished well at the Sun Belt Conference Championships with one champion and five runner-ups.
“At the end of the day, I am very excited about what men's team did and the performances of individuals on the women's team,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “Every team has mishaps, but it is how you handle them as a team that counts.”
Larry Henry placed first in the men's high jump with a distance of 2.11 meters qualifying for the NCAA East Division I Regional Championships. Henry was ranked first in the Sun Belt coming into the championships, and now ranks 33rd in the NCAA East Division I Region.
Nicolo' Bolla surpassed the previous Sun Belt Championship record in the men's hammer throw placing second with a distance of 61.10 meters. Bolla ranks 11th in the NCAA Division I Qualifier list and will compete in the regional championship.
Martins Pildavs placed second in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 69.87 meters. Pildavs ranks second in the NCAA East Division I and qualifies to compete in the championships.
Neko Freeman placed second in the men's 100-meters with a time of 10.48 qualifying him for the NCAA East Division I Region where he ranks 54th. Freeman also placed seventh in the men's 200-meters with a time of 21.89.
Eddie Lynn placed second in the men's discus throw with a distance of 52.46 meters. Lynn ranks 37th and qualifies for the NCAA East Division I Regional Championships.
Kemper Morton placed second in the men's 800-meter with a time of 1:56.19. He finishes the season in third place in the Sun Belt conference.
Thaddeus Curtis placed fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.53 and qualifies for the NCAA East Division I Regional Championships. Jasmine Patton placed fifth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.00.
Phillip Pritchett and Payton McGhee placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the men's 100-meters. Pritchett had a time of 10.52, and McGhee had a time of 10.57. McGhee also placed fifth in the men's 200-meters with a time of 21.58.
Ja-Courtney Alexander finished fourth in the women's 200-meters with a time of 24.59, and she finished fifth in the women's 400-meters with a time of 55.88.
“Many freshmen scored first sun belt outing,” Lancaster said. “This shows promise for the future of this team.”
The Trojans have a total of six athletes heading to the NCAA East Division I Regional Championships to take place May 24-26 in Jacksonville, Fla.
