Trojans Finish Day One of the Sun Belt Conference Championships

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy track & field team finished well on day one of the Sun Belt Conference Championships after a long rain delay.
Eddie Lynn placed second in the men's discus throw with a distance of 52.46 meters, placing him on the podium for the first time in his career. In the women's discus, Ashley Evans, Erin Walker and Nicole Studstill placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
In the women's heptathlon, Christina Barrett and Veronica Bryant are placed third and fourth, respectively. Both Barrett and Bryant set personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles. Barrett placed second with a time of 14.37, and Bryant placed fifth with a time of 14.93. The heptathlon will finish today.
In the men's decathlon, Samuel Johnson and Coren Crompton both set personal bests in the 100-meter dash. Johnson placed sixth with a time of 11.33, and Crompton placed eighth with a time of 11.58. The men will finish the decathlon today.
Freshman Haley Watts attempted a school record and placed seventh in the women's pole vault with a distance of 3.11 meters. No one has placed in the women's pole vault for Troy in years, according to Coach Lancaster.
Morgan Paulson set a personal best in the women's 10000-meter run placing 11th with a time of 39:14.41.
The championships continue today and tomorrow, and with weather permitting they will follow the schedule. Full results will be available on TroyTrojans.com following the meet.
