Clean Sweep Gives Troy Sixth Straight Win

TROY, Ala. - The Troy women's tennis team continued its win streak at home on Monday, defeating Alabama State 7-0, at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Trojans dropped just one game in the dominate effort as they picked up their sixth straight victory.

The Trojans (10-6) started the day off quickly, sweeping all three doubles matches to grab a 1-0 lead over the Hornets.

The number two team of Olfa Dhaoui and Samya El Hsissen were the first off the court, defeating Shameka Williams and Renita Rhone 8-1. The lone game captured by the Hornets in that match would prove to be the only of the day as Troy cruised throughout.

Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva clinched the doubles point for Troy, 8-0, defeating ASU's Nathalie Lorenco and Mechelle Barton at the number one spot. The win moved Grymel and Dorofeeva to 11-2 as a duo this season and marked their eighth straight win.

In singles play, the Trojans quickly grabbed the three points they needed to clinch the match.

At number three singles, Dhaoui defeated Williams in straight-set fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile, Grymel picked up her tenth victory in singles play this season as she took out ASU's Loveuco 6-0, 6-0, at number one singles.

El Hsissen competed in the number five spot for the Trojans and defeated Lomax 6-0,6-0, to clinch the match for the Trojans.

At number two, Dorofeeva defeated Barton 6-0, 6-0, after struggling the last match.

Troy's Candela Munoz Giron defeated Rhone 6-0, 6-1 in the number four spot, which led to victory for the Trojans.

Troy looks to make it seven straight victories as they travel to take on Samford on Wednesday. The Trojans and Bulldogs are set to get underway at 2:00 p.m. in Birmingham.
