FULL RANKINGS
TROY, Ala. – The Troy track & field men's team has moved to 14th in the South region above in-state competition, Alabama.
The Trojan men are also ranked 65th in the nation, and their efforts have continued to improve throughout the season.
“We couldn't be more proud for the success of our team,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “Our South region is very tough and the 14th place ranking speaks well of our men's team. We honestly believe we have men and women who will have the opportunity to move into and/or improve their national recognition within the next two competitions, Coach “O” at home this weekend and the Sun Belt Championships.”
Senior Martins Pildavs ranks fourth in the nation in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 75.60 meters at the USA Invitational on April 13. Earlier this season, he was named Sun Belt Athlete of the Week, and he also remains first in the Sun Belt for the men's javelin throw.
“You have to be impressed with the performance Pildavs has shown this season,” Lancaster said. “He's broken his own school record, as well as maintained a spot in the top 10 of the nation.”
The Trojans will be competing in their last regular meet of the season Saturday as they host the 12th annual Coach “O” Invitational, followed by a week break to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships on May 11-13 in Lafayette, La.
