TROY, Ala. – Junior Nicolo' Bolla from Castelnovo, Italy has been named the Sun Belt Conference Field Athlete of the week.
“It's nice to see Nicolo' get recognized for his great efforts this season,” assistant coach Shawn Williams said. “He works tremendously hard and is starting to get into competition form at the right time. He is deserving of the recognition by the other coaches."
Bolla finished this past week's performance at the Tiger Track Classic with a record breaking hammer throw with a distance of 61.07 meters. This performance moved him to first place in the Sun Belt Conference and 16th in the NCAA East Division I Outdoor Qualifier List.
His previous top performance was at the North Florida where he placed first in the hammer throw with a distance of 60.80 meters.
“He (Bolla) exemplifies all that is good about a student-athlete,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “He is very deserving of this honor.”
Bolla and the rest of the Trojans will be in action this weekend as they head back to South Alabama for the second time this season to compete in the USA Invite. The Trojans are four weeks away from the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championship.
