Tolver Dozier in Fourth Following Round Two of USF Invitational; Trojans Sit in 11th
DADE CITY, Fla. – Tolver Dozier shot a 3-under par 69 to lead the Troy men's golf team on day two of the USF Invitational at the par-72, 7,164-yard Lake Jovita Golf Club South Course in Dade City, Fla. The Trojans are in 11th place heading into the final round of play after shooting a 296 on Tuesday.
“We were one under on as a team after eleven holes and we finished eight over,” Troy head coach Matt Terry said after the second round of play. “We are disappointed with the way we finished.”
The Trojans are currently one stroke behind Arkansas State for 10th place and are 23 strokes back of first place Central Florida.
Dozier started the round with birdies on three of his first four holes and made the turn at 2-under par following a bogey on number six. He took a bogey on the par-4 10th hole, but followed it up with an eagle on the eleventh hole. The native of Dothan, Ala., finished his round with a bogey and a birdie to finish the day tied for fourth and just three strokes off the lead.
Senior Ricky Casko opened the second round with four bogeys and three birdies on the front nine to put him at 1-over par. He finished his day even on the back nine to close at 73 on the day and tied for 17th overall.
“We were having a good time out there today and we let it get away from us on the back nine, Terry said. “We have to play better tomorrow. I know how hard our guys are working in practice; we have the talent here, we just need to go out there tomorrow and finish strong.”
Freshmen Jake Tucker and Wil Clowdus both carded matching 77s on Monday, while Will Garner fired a 78.
