Trojans in Good Position After Opening Round

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Troy men's golf team finished the first round of the USF Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf Club South Course in a two-way tie for 7th place out of 17 teams, carding an opening round score of 296.
The Trojans find themselves 12 shots out of first place which is held by UCF, however Troy is just five shots back of third place Georgia. The Trojans are tied with Eastern Michigan and have North Carolina, Kentucky and South Florida all within reach.
Tolver Dozier was the low scorer for the Trojans after carding a 71, one under par and is sitting in a tie for 7th place as an individual in the tournament. Dozier opened with a par on the first hole and birded the second and ninth hole making the turn at two under par.
Dozier opened the back nine with a par on the tenth hole and a birdie on eleven and fifteen. The last couple of holes were a struggle for Dozier who finished with a double bogey on sixteen and a bogey on seventeen.
Dozier ended the round with a par to shoot a 71 for the Trojans. The Dothan, Ala., native is six shots off of the pace set by Jose Joia of UCF who opened the tournament with a Sunday 65.
Ricky Casko finished his day one shot back of Dozier after shooting an even par opening-round score of 72, placing the senior in a tie for 13th after Sunday's action.
Jake Tucker also finds himself in the top 25 after carding an opening round score of 74, placing him in a tie for 23rd.
Wil Clowdus and Will Garner rounded out the lineup for the Trojans and shot a 79 and 83, respectively, to open up the three round tournament.
The Trojans return to the course on Monday with tee times beginning at 9:55 a.m. The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the third and final round.
