TROY, Ala. – The Troy track & field team will be heading to Mobile Saturday to compete in the 2012 Jaguar Classic at the University of South Alabama.
“We are looking forward to having an easier travel week to conference foe South Alabama,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “The six team meet format is perfect and allows us to do some different things with the athletes that we could not do in a larger meet.”
The Trojans are coming off a strong performance at the Georgia Relays last week, where Chris Upshaw placed first in the 400-meters with a time 48.88 seconds.
“At this time of the season, training becomes very specific,” Lancaster said. “You can see the confidence and excitement building in the athletes.”
Saturday's meet will be held at the Jaguar Track beginning with the field event competition at 10:15 a.m. Troy will be competing against athletes from South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, Birmingham-Southern and Mississippi College.
The men's and women's throws will begin the field events at 10:15 a.m., to be followed by the jumps to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Running events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's and men's hurdles, and will conclude with the women's and men's 4x400 meter relay.
Results of the meet will be available immediately following the meet on the Troy Athletics website, troytrojans.com.
