Troy Falls to South Alabama

TROY, Ala. – South Alabama scored four runs in the final two innings, to comeback and knock off the Troy softball team, 6-3, at the Troy Softball Complex, Wednesday night.
Troy (20-10, 2-5) jumped out to a 3-1 through three innings and led the Jaguars all the way until the sixth inning, until Christin Crocker belted a one-out solo home run to left center field to the game at 3-3.
South Alabama (20-9, 8-2) capped for the comeback in the top of the seven adding for three runs to take the lead, picking up all three of Troy starter Ashley Rainey. Alyssa Linn tripled in Jaguar second baseman Haley Richards to give South Alabama a 4-3
lead.
The Jaguars tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh as Blair Johnson's RBI double and a Troy error allowed South Alabama to take a 6-3 leading heading to the bottom of the inning.
After giving up a one-out single to Troy catcher Hannah Renn, USA starter Hannah Campbell shut the door on the Trojans, striking out Troy's final two hitters to end the game.
Campbell (12-6) picked up her 14th complete game in the win, allowing just five hits, while striking out three and walking two.
Renn picked up three of Troy's five hits, as the junior went 3-for-4 at the plate, picking up her first multi-hit game since the junior went a perfect 4-for-4 against Purdue on February 26.
Hayden Gann picked up the other two Troy hits, as the senior blasted a two-run home run in the top of third to give Troy a 3-1 lead. The homer marked Gann's third home run in the last four games and gives her 22 career home runs.
Ashley Rainey (10-5) picked up the loss, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing six runs, five earned. The freshman allowed 11 hits, while striking out three and walking none.
Troy wraps up its season-long eight game homestand with FIU visiting the Troy Softball Complex for a three-game set with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.
