HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Troy women's golf team ended play Tuesday at the UALR Women's Golf Classic with a team score of 912 (+48) to finish tenth.
Just three strokes separated the top-five teams with UTEP claiming the team title after completing the two-day, three-round tournament with a 897 (+33). Middle Tennessee's Karisa Akin captured the individual title after firing a three-round total of 215 to finish at one-under par.
Haley Lawrence led the Trojans with a final tournament score of 223 to finish tied for 12th at seven-over par. Sydney Conrad set a new career low Tuesday with a third round score of 72. Conrad improved on the final 18 holes after firing first and second round scores of 79 and 78 to finish the two-day event tied for 37th at 13-over par.
“Conrad had her career low today with a 72,” head coach Matt Terry said. “I am proud of her; it is good to see this side of her.”
Sofia Bjorkman matched her first round score in today's final round with a 78 to finish at 14-over par, tied for 43rd. Langley Vannoy finished tied for 62nd and Taylor McGraw ended the tournament tied for 67th.
"The last two rounds were really good,” Terry said. “The first round really hurt us as a team. It set us back too far, but we did have the low team round of the tournament for the second round, which is nice to see.”
Troy will take to the course next on April 8-10 when they travel to Oneonta, Ala. to compete in the Samford Women's Intercollegiate hosted by Samford University. Fans can follow @TroyTrojansGolf on Twitter to stay informed on the latest updates, or visit www.TroyTrojans.com.
