Trojans Finish the Georgia Relays with a First Place Finish

FINAL RESULTS
ATHENS, Ga. – The Troy track & field team complete the Georgia Relays with one first place finish.
Chris Upshaw placed 1st in the 400-meters with a time of 48.88 seconds.
“We are delighted with the performances and efforts of the entire team,” Coach Jill Lancaster said.
The men's 4x100 team; Neko Freeman, Thaddeus Curtis, Benjamin Martin, and Chris Upshaw, placed 2nd with a time of 40.90.
Martins Pildavs placed 2nd in the men's javelin with a distance of 70.97 meters.
In the women's 400-meters, Ja-Courtney Alexander and Candice Vaughn placed 3rd and 4th, respectively. Alexander finished with a time of 55.65, and Vaughn finished with a time of 57.62.
The men's 4x200 team placed 2nd with a time of 1:27.49. The team was composed of Neko Freeman, Benjamin Martin, Phillip Pritchett and Matt Burney.
In the men's high jump, Larry Henry and Delonte Martistee place 2nd and 4th, respectively. Henry had a distance of 1.95 meters, and Martistee had a distance of J1.95 meters.
In the women's javelin, Megan Schunelle and Christina Barrett placed 3rd and 4th, respectively. Schunelle had a distance of 36.66 meters and Barrett had a distance of 36.64 meters.
Erin Walker placed 4th in the women's discus throw with a distance of 44.37 meters to move her to 5th all-time at Troy.
Eddie Lynn placed 4th in the men's discus throw with a distance of 51.14 meters.
In the women's long jump, Alexus Cobbs and Veronica Bryant placed 8th and 9th respectively, both setting personal bests. Cobbs had a distance of 5.67 meters to move her to 8th all-time, and Bryant had a distance of 5.64 meters to move her to 10th all-time.
Luv Dean placed 5th in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.39.
“Dean has continued to improve after coming off her redshirt year,” Lancaster said.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team placed 4th with a time of 3:51.22. The team was composed of Ja-Courtney Alexander, Candice Vaughn, Ashley Hall, and Alexus Cobbs.
In the men's 4x400-meter relay, Troy 'A' placed 3rd with a time of 3:21.66, and Troy 'B' placed 4th with a time of 3:28.37.
The women's 4x200 team placed 3rd with a time of 1:43.10. The team was composed of Veronica Bryant, Christina Barrett, April Irving, and Jasmine Patton,
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Douglas Dyer placed 8th with a time of 57.41 and Brandon Norwood placed 11th with a time of 58.96.
In the men's 800-sprint medley team, Troy 'A' placed 3rd with a time of 1:32.69, and Troy 'B' placed 5th with a time of 1:36.53.
The women's 800-sprint medley team; Adria Hill, Ashley Hall, Alexus Cobbs and Tiffany Slater, placed 4th with a time of 1:49.34.
Kemper Morton set a personal best placing 9th in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:58.07.
Chaun Lynn placed 6th in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.95 meters.
In the pole vault, Samuel Johnson placed 5th for the men with a distance of 4.28 meters, and Hayley Watts placed 8th for the women with a distance of 3.00 meters.
“I cannot say enough about the teamwork exhibited this weekend,” Lancaster said. “With efforts like these, it's hard not to be beaming with pride to be a Troy Trojan.”
The Trojans will continue action next Saturday, March 31 at the Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala.
