Trojan Moves to Second in the Nation at Louisiana Classics

FINAL RESULTS
LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy track & field team end the Louisiana Classics on a high note after a first place finish moves one Trojan to second in the nation.
Martins Pildavs placed first in the men's javelin with a distance of 73.73 meters to move him to second place in the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifier list. This also beats the school record that Pildavs previously held last year.
“Today was an outstanding day for Troy Trojans,” Coach Jill Lancaster said. “They wasted no time establishing quality marks for this season.”
Many other Trojans had impressive finishes throughout the day to get this outdoor season in full effect.
Christina Barrett and Veronica Bryant placed first and second, respectively, in the women's high jump. Barrett had a finish of 1.65 meters, and Bryant had a finish of 1.60 meters.
The women's 4x100-meter relay Troy 'A' team: Ariel Cavazos, Ja-Courtney Alexander, Adria Hill, and Mychea Williams; placed first with a time of 46.07 seconds. This moves the team to 19th in the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifier list.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team: Neko Freeman, Thaddeus Curtis, Benjamin Martin, and Chris Upshaw; placed second with a time of 40.70 seconds.
Freeman also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.47 seconds, moving him to ninth on the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifier list. He also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.71 seconds.
Lizzie Clough placed third in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 46.87 meters, breaking the school record she previously held. She is now ranked tenth in the nation on the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifier list.
Thaddeus Curtis placed second in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.65 seconds setting a personal best.
Ja-Courtney Alexander and Mychea Williams placed third and fourth, respectively, in the women's 100-meter dash. Alexander finished with a time of 11.83 seconds, and Williams finished with a time of 12.03 seconds. Alexander also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.73 seconds.
Delonte Martistee placed third in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.71 mters. In the men's high jump, Larry Henry placed sixth with a distance of 2.00 meters. Chaun Lynn placed sixth in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.74 meters.
Alexus Cobbs, Ariel Cavazos and Christina Barrett finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the women's long jump. Cobbs finished with 5.18 meters; Cavazsos finished with 5.14 meters; and Barrett finished with 5.10 meters. Breanna Sanner placed eighth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 11.41 meters.
Eddie Lynn placed fifth in the men's discus throw with a distance of 50.64 meters to break a school record.
In the women's discus throw, Nicole Studstill placed fourth with a distance of 45.34 meters.
In the men's 1500-meter run Kemper Morton placed fifth with a time of 4:01.95.
“This was an impressive first outing for the men and women together,” Lancaster said. “We feel confident heading into the rest of the season.”
The Trojans will be in action again March 23-24 at the Georgia Relays.
