Trojans Set All-Time Decathlon Records

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy track & field team finish day one and two at the Louisiana Classics with great performances from a freshman duo in the decathlon.
Coren Crompton and Samuel Johnson finished second and third, respectively, in the decathlon. Crompton moves to third all-time at Troy with a total of 6488 points, and Johnson moves to sixth all-time with a total of 6285 points.
“We are very proud of how they performed in their first collegiate decathlon,” said Coach Mark Lukasko. “They never gave up, and fought hard through every event.”
Both freshman set personal bests throughout the decathlon. Johnson placed second in the javelin with a distance of 49.67 meters. Crompton placed second in the pole vault with a distance of 4.45 meters.
Nicola Bolla and Eddie Lynn advance to the finals in the men's hammer throw. Bolla placed first with a distance of 60.50 meters, and Lynn placed fourth with a distance of 54.32 meters.
In the women's hammer throw, Brynn Forsythe placed 8th with a distance of 51.02 meters and will advance to the finals tomorrow. Nicole Studstill placed 13th with a distance of 47.20 meters.
Competition continues tomorrow with the field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. starting with the women's discus. Running events begin at 2:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay and should finish at 6:50 p.m. with the men's 4x400 meter relay.
