Trojans Head to the Louisiana Classics Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy track & field team will begin action today at the Louisiana Classics Invitational at the University of Lousiana Lafayette.
“Last time we were here we had really good performances,” said Coach Lancaster. “We are hoping to have a strong performance as we head further into this outdoor season.”
The men's team is coming off a strong performance at the UNF Spring Break Invitational two weeks ago where they had three first-place finishes.
Martins Pildalvs placed first in javelin and is now ranked first in the 2012 NCAA Division East Outdoor Qualifier list.
Nicolo Bola placed first in the hammer throw and now ranks second in the 2012 NCAA Division East Outdoor Qualifier list.
Delonte Martistee placed first in the triple jump and now ranks third on the in the 2012 NCAA Division East Outdoor Qualifier list.
For the women, this meet will begin their outdoor season after coming off a great finish in the indoor season.
“We hope the first meet was just a sign of things to come out of this season for our men,” Lancaster said. “And the women have been training hard to start their season off right.”
Competition will begin today with the men's decathlon at 1:15 p.m. with Coren Crompton and Samuel Johnson.
Friday's events begin with the finishing of the decathlon and the men's and women's hammer.
Competition will wrap up on Saturday beginning with the women's discus and other field events at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by the running events ending with the men's 4x400 relay at 6:50 p.m.
The Trojans hope to become familiar with this track, as the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships will be held there in May.
