Troy, Ala. – The Troy track & field team will be heading to Jacksonville, Fl. to compete in the outdoor season opener at the University of North Florida Spring Break Invitational. The meet will be held in the 9400 seat Hodges Stadium Track & Field facility, which is one of 3 IAAF Class II facilities in the United States.

"With the newcomers being joined by a group of already established talent, we look for many to make their mark this weekend," Coach Jill Lancaster said.

The day will begin with the Brynn Forsythe, Nicole Studstill, Erin Walker and Karen Wyatt competing in the women's hammer at 9:00 a.m.
The women are coming off strong performances at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships last week, while the men will be competing in their first official meet of the year.
"We are loooking for top returning conference performers and NCAA regional qualifiers to make a quick impact," Lancaster said.
Junior Neko Freeman will be returning after being named an Academic All-American last year.

The men's first competition will be at noon with the hammer and long jump, to be followed by track events throughout the afternoon. The men's pole vault will end the day for the Trojans with Coren Crompton and Sam Johnson.

Saturday begins with the women's and men's discus and shot put at 8:00 a.m. The final competition will be the women's and men's 4x400 relay at 4:30 p.m.
