Trojans Take First Place Finishes

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Troy track & field team performed well at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational with many top finishes by the Trojans.
Junior Ja-Courtney Alexander placed first in the 200-meters with a time of 25.17. The women's relay team for the 4x440-yards placed first with a time of 4:00.55 with Alexander at first leg, junior Candice Vaughn at second leg, freshman Alexus Cobbs at third leg, and sophomore Luv Dean finishing.
“Our team is taking big steps in preparation for the championships at the end of the month,” coach Jill Lancaster said. “There were many strong performances today.”
Junior Jasmine Patton moved to number sixth all time in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33.
"She (Patton) continues to have a dramatic time drop moving to sixth all time," said Lancaster.
Junior Veronica Bryant set a personal best in the high jump with a distance of 1.66 meters.
Junior Brynn Forsythe finished second in the women's weight throw with a distance of 16.29 meters and finished third in the women's shot put with a distance of 12.42 meters.
Sophomore Karen Wyatt had a season best in the weight throw with a distance 15.49 meters.
Freshmen April Irving and Mychea Williams both set personal bests in the high jump with a distance of 1.55 meters.
Dean finished fourth in the 400-meters in her first meet after being red-shirted her sophomore season.
Sophomore Adria Hill set a personal best in the 55-meter hurdles placing eighth with a time of 8.63, and junior Christina Barrett on her heels placing ninth with a time of 8.66.
The Trojans will head to the Vulcan invitational on Friday for their last meet before the Sun Belt Indoor Championships.
